New ODI captain to be named within two days: Shahryar


LAHORE: Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan has said that the captain for the one day team is expected to be announced within the next two days,

It should be noted that the position fell vacant after Misbah-ul-Haq retired from one day cricket following the team’s exit from the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Shahryar Khan has also said that the new selection committee will name the players that will be touring Bangladesh next month.

He added that the future role of chief selector Moin Khan will also be decided within the next few days.

Sources have said that the board is facing problems in appointing a candidate that will lead the green shirts. They are considering the names of Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad in the senio players whereas the Sarfraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz are also in the running for the position.

PCB have also in talks with the former players in order to avoid any controversial decisions.
