Neymar Jr’s Five is back and the second edition of the tournament is expected to be bigger and better. This time, the global tournament will feature 53 teams from different countries, including Pakistan. There will be slight changes in rule as well.

The first season of the event had 47 countries that instantly made it the biggest five-a-side football tournament of the world.

The first season of the tournament was won by the home side, Anjos da Bola, and they were rewarded with a VIP to Barcelona. Neymar Jr. himself met the team and termed the meeting as ‘incredible’.

“Meeting the winners was incredible!” said Neymar Jr. “Now I can’t wait to see who makes it through to the 2017 World Final at my Institution in Brazil.”

First, the competition takes place at the regional level, the winners of regions then face off to become the national champions and the national champions go to Brazil Neymar Jr’s Institution Projeto in Praia Grande, Brazil for the global contest

Ghost FC from Peshawar were Pakistan’s national champions last year and they went to Brazil to compete against other national champions of other countries.

Neymar Jr Five is an interesting tournament that features five players-a-side and as a team scores a goal, the opponents lose a player.

Players from the age bracket of 16-25 can participate in the tournament, moreover, in this season of the tournament, teams can play two over-aged players.

Registrations for teams in Pakistan has been closed and now the qualifiers will take place.

Details of qualifying round are as follows:

Karachi: April 14-16. Venue: Karachi United Football Club, St 20, Block 1, scheme 5, Clifton.
Lahore: April 14-16. Venue: Plot Number 2A – E2 Gulberg.
Islamabad: April 21-22. Venue: Total Football Chakshehzad (Near Comsats University)
National Finals: April 23. Venue: Total Football Chakshehzad (Near Comsats University)
