No Amir-Kohli duel this Asia Cup as selectors rest Indian skipper

Fans won’t be able to see the Amir vs Kohli exciting duel this year as Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been rested by Indian selectors due to workload.

Opening batsman Rohit Sharma have been given the charge to lead the Indian side in the absence of Kohli, while Shikhar Dhawan named as the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team. Selectors have also called up Khaleel Ahmed in the squad.

According to Indian selectors, Kohli’s workload will be a priority as another six Test matches lined in the next three months (two vs the West Indies and four vs Australia). Moreover, the Indian skipper has also had some back issues so they are taking the precautions.

The Asia Cup 2018 is around the corner and the news have made Indian fans a bit worried as the arch-rivals Pakistan and India are expected to lock horns at-least twice in the event.

However, it’s going to be quite difficult for India to fulfil Kohli’s space, Indian selectors are still scratching their heads to fix the middle order woes.

On the other hand, Pakistan has recently announced 18 players to take part in training camp for the Asia Cup adding Imad Wasim and Shan Masood back in the squad.

Asia Cup 2018 will kick-off from 15th September and the first extreme encounter of the tournament between India-Pakistan is all set to commence on 19th September.
