No handshakes for South Africa while touring India over coronavirus fears

South Africa and India cricket teams are likely to avoid handshakes with each other during their three-match ODI series, which starts on 12th March.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, handshakes will be replaced by fist bumps as a precaution against coronavirus (COVID-19). Earlier Cricket South Africa (CSA) conducted an expert assessment due to the risk of the growing number of coronavirus infections globally.

The team has been briefed on precautionary measures and CSA’s chief medical officer, Dr. Shuaib Manjra will also travel with the team during the tour.

It must be noted that earlier England’s captain Joe Root also announced that they will replace handshakes with fist bumps on their tour of Sri Lanka for two-match Test series.
