Pakistan’s young weightlifter, Nooh Dastagir Butt came fourth in the Asian Weightlifting Youth and Junior Championship in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The 18-year old competed in +105kg category and lifted 160kg in snatch and 201kg in clean and jerk that gave him the fourth spot.

Having won the silver medal in Commonwealth Championship, the expectations were too high from him to be the gold medalist in this competition. His failure to top the table, left Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Vice-President Rashed Malik disheartened.

“It was a disappointing day for all of us,” Rashed told The Express Tribune. “Nooh was a major contender in the event, but he just failed to lift the same amount of weight that he did at the Commonwealth Championships.”

But, the vice-president still believes that the young weight-lifter will make a comeback.
