Northern beat KPK by 39 runs to reach Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s final


Skipper Noman Ali bagged four wickets in the second inning to help Northern beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) by 39 runs at UBL Sports Complex to reach the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20.

Northern restricted KPK to 205 runs after setting them to chase 245. Zohaib Khan top-scored for them with 51 runs off 122 balls while Israrullah made 50 runs.

Apart from Noman Ali, Sadaf Hussain bagged two wickets.

Northern’s coach Mohammad Waseem said that the team tried to play positive cricket throughout and they will continue the temperament ahead too.

“We lifted our self from down the table and see we are here now. I told everyone to not give up till the last moment,” he said.

On the other hand, Central Punjab (CP) reached the final on the basis of first-inning lead over Southern Punjab (SP) in their 10th round match at State Bank Ground.

Salman Butt (158*) and Ahmed Shahzad (100*) led CP to 309-1 at stumps on the last day of play.

Earlier, SP managed to score 392 runs in reply of 597-9 (dec) in the first inning of the match.

CP and Northern will meet in the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20 from December 27 at National Stadium Karachi.
