Karachi: Northern beat Southern Punjab (SP) by six wickets to gain the first position at the points table in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020.
With all three results-oriented matches in Sixth Round, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is expected to become more exciting and enthralling in the upcoming seventh round.
Here’s the Points table situation after Six Rounds
Northern: Under the leadership of Nauman Ali, Northern has been doing wonders this year after losing the first contest against SP. The side took revenge from SP by defeating them by six wickets to gain crucial points.
Currently, Northern stands at the top position with three wins in six matches they have played so far. They have 98 points in their account.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): In the coaching of Abdul Razzaq, KPK regained rhythm as they jumped to the second position at the points table after outclassing Balochistan by 175 runs in Sixth Round.
With the latest win, KPK now has as many wins as Northern in six matches and carry 92 points.
Southern Punjab (SP): After the departure of regular captain Shan Masood and in-form batsman Hussain Talat, SP looked a bit shaky as they lost and drew two matches each despite getting a strong start in the tournament with two back-to-back victories.
With 2 wins and 79 points, SP settles at the third position on the points table.
Balochistan: With only a win, Balochistan lost rhythm after winning their first match in the tournament. They currently have 70 points after 6 matches.
Sindh: Led by Asad Shafiq, Sindh failed to maintain consistency after winning the first match. They currently are fifth-ranked on the points table with 63 points.
Central Punjab (CP): Change of leadership worked well for CP as they finally managed to win their first match in the tournament. Stand-in skipper Hasan Ali led CP to first win by 227 runs against Sindh in Sixth Round at National Stadium.
They are still at last but with a win and 54 points now, they can make a strong comeback in the tournament.
Nauman Ali: 34-years-old spinner once again gained the top position in most wicket-takers’ list with 43 scalps followed by Sajid Khan of KPK with 38 wickets.
Salman Ali Agha: SP’s Salman Ali Agha scored the highest 600 runs so far in the event. Saud Shakeel has scored 588 runs, which means a strong contest is expected among both batters to grab the top spot in the next round.
