Omaima Sohail brilliant innings of 53 while chasing led PCB dynamites to their first victory against PCB Blasters by seven wickets in the fourth match of the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at Karachi’s National Stadium.
PCB Blaster’s captain Javeria Khan won the toss and decided to bat first on a slow wicket. Blaster only managed to score 146-6 after a great start.
Skipper Javeria was the top-scorer scoring 43 off 39 balls. She was supported brilliantly by Javeria Rauf for the second -wicket. She scored 38 which included four fours. Sidra Nawaz at the back end of the innings made quick-fire 20 off just 12 balls providing her team some total to defend.
Pakistan best bowler till date, off-spinner Sana Mir picked two for 18 in her quota of four overs. Kainat Imtiaz and Omaima Sohail claimed one wicket each.
Dynamites started the chase with a great start but soon lost two wickets in quick succession. For the third-wicket, it was all about Omaima Sohail and Kainat Hafeez (39) helping their team to a seven-wicket win over blasters. Omaima was awarded player of the match for her all-round performance.
“It was a do and die situation for us today, so in order to restore hope for the final this win was crucial and Thanks to Almighty, my performance came today for the team,” Omaima said in a post-match presser.
Dynamites will now face PCB challengers tomorrow as bot the teams will try to win their second match of the tournament.
