Pak Army outclasses Pak Police by 9-1 in National Senior Hockey Championship


Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army walked over Pakistan Police by 9-1 in their first match of the 66th National Senior Hockey Championship here at Mari Petroleum Stadium. 

With an aggressive approach, Army boys didn’t let their opponents come back in the game throughout. Mohammad Safeer bagged two goals while Abdul Jabbar, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Farhan, Shahid Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Ali Haider, and Wasim Akram scored a goal each.

Bilawal was the lone goal scorer from Police.

In another match on an opening day, Pakistan Navy beat Port Qasim Authority by 6-2. Ali Sher and Nauman Janjua scored two goals each while Akbar Ali and Usman Ali netted the ball once each.  For Port Qasim Authority, Sami and Haris were the goal scorers.

Pakistan WAPDA snatched an 8-2 victory from Punjab in their first match with their boys dominating throughout. Samiullah scored two goals while Aleem Bilal, Aleem Usman, Umar Bhutta, Amjad Ali, Rizwan Ali, and Tausiq Ahmed shared a goal apiece.

Gulsher and Ajaz scored a goal each for Punjab.

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) scored 4 goals in reply of 2 to win their first match in the tournament against Pakistan Air Force. Junaid Manzoor scored two goals while Abu Bakar and Shan Irshad netted a goal each.  Adna and Rizwan Ali scored a goal each for Air Force.

In the last match of day 1, MPCL beat SSGC by 4-3 with Arbaz Ahmed, Hashir Ali, Nartaza Yaqoob, and Arshad Liaquat scoring a goal each. Mubashir Ali bagged two while Mohammad Nadeem bagged a goal each for SSGC.
