Pak Army wins back-to-back matches in National Hockey Championship


Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army beat Pakistan Navy by 3-2 to win the second consecutive match in 66th National Senior Hockey Championship here at Mari Petroleum Stadium.

Mohammad Abbas scored two goals for the winning side while Arsalan scored a goal. From the Navy, Mohammad Sobar and Zulqarnain shared a goal apiece.

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) also won their second consecutive match after defeating MPCL by the scores of 1-0. Abu Bakar of NBP was the lone goal scorer of the match.

In another match of the second day, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) outclassed Punjab by 6-1. Zeeshan And Mubashir scored two goals each while Alishah and Ahmed Nadeem netted a goal each.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) won their first match in the tournament after beating Pakistan Port Qasim by 2-1. It was a back-to-back defeat for Port Qasim. Ahmer Ali and Shahbaz were the goal scorers for PAF. Abuzar bagged a goal for Port Qasim.

Pakistan WAPDA walked over Pakistan police by 7-2 to win their second match in the event. Samiullah scored three goals while Aleem Bilal netted the ball twice. Ajaz Ahmed and Umar Bhutta also scored a goal each for WAPDA. For Police, both the goals were scored by Hamza.
