Pakistan bags Silver medal at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games as they fell short in the final of the tournament against Turkey and lost the game by 2-0.
In the final that was played in Baku, Azerbaijan, Pakistan team, after putting up an impressive show in Group A, could not get the better of Group B’s topper Turkey.
Team led by Aqeel Khan lost the match by 2-0 as Muhammad Abid Mushtaq was defeated by Anil Yuksel and Aqeel was knocked out by Altug Celikbelik in the best-of-three series.
Pakistan surely missed their ace tennis star Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi and Abid Ali Akbar as they failed to repeat 2005 performance where they bagged a gold medal
Pakistan have so far won four medals in the event which include two silver and two bronze.
Saadi Abbas won a silver medal in 75kg weight category in Karate, whereas, women swimming team earned a bronze medal in the event. Mohammad Khalil Akhtar also won a bronze medal in the 25m centre-fire shooting competition.
