Pakistan Blind cricket council has declared that the team will not participate in the Asia cup that will take place in India. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 17th to 24th of January 2016 and Pakistan were supposed to defend their title.
Sye Sultan Shah who is both the Chairman of Pakistan blind cricket council and President of World blind cricket council said while talking to NDTV that
“The decision to pull out of the January games has been taken in the wake of the current sentiment pertaining to Pakistan and Pakistanis across the border.” He further added, “The management needs to ensure the safety and security of the team.”
The decision came a day after the PCB chairman Shaharyar khan met with Indian officials over the proposed India Pakistan series but was not happy with the attitude of the Indian board towards this issue. Also the Kabaddi world cup was also called off due to security concerns.
With the T20 world cup 2016 fast approaching, it will be interesting to see how the teams react to this security situation in India and weather they will or will not send their teams for the mega event. At present the future of sports events in India looks dull and uncertain.
