Pakistan have called off their tour to Bangladesh by mutual consent and told that they will look for a window to tour the country sometime next year.
The Man in Green were to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals and one T20 international on the tour. However, PCB has postponed the tour for an indefinite time as they wanted Bangladesh to tour them. Pakistan have toured Bangladesh two times since 2011, whereas Bangladesh are yet to tour Pakistan since 2007.
“We had spoken about the possibility of hosting them [Bangladesh in Pakistan] this year,” PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan told ESPNcricinfo. “Pakistan have now toured Bangladesh twice without them reciprocating, and we feel we cannot tour Bangladesh for the third straight time. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the tour, and will explore another window in the next year or so.”
During Pakistan’s last visit to Bangladesh, they took US$ 325,000 and justified it by saying that it was supposed to be Pakistan’s home series. But, Bangladesh refused to entertain any such demand of PCB this time, however an option to play the series at a neutral venue was there.
Pakistan is looking to bring back international cricket back in the country, they are trying to cash on the successful hosting of PSL final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
PCB feels that hosting teams like Zimbabwe or Bangladesh at a neutral venue is not financially beneficial. Previously, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have refused to tour Pakistan in the last two years on security grounds.
