Pakistan development squad beat the Oman hockey team by 7-0 in the first match of four matches series at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.
Rana Abdul Waheed was top scorer for Pakistan as the young boy netted the ball thrice. Hammad, Rana Sohail, Rizwan Ali and Amjad Ali scored a goal each.
The second match of the series will be played on October 2 at the same venue.
Former Pakistan hockey team captain, Akhtar Rasool applauded the efforts of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for restoring international hockey events in the country.
“It is a good initiative by the PHF to organize this event and I would like to thank Oman team to pay a visit to Pakistan,” he said.
Rasool said that a young lot of Pakistan is very talented but there is a need for proper planning for these young lads.
“These talented boys are the future of Pakistan. I have consulted with PHF’s secretary Asif Bajwa to discuss the road map for these players,” he concluded.
