Pakistan to host Emerging Teams Asia Cup next year: Najam Sethi

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Najam Sethi announced on Sunday during a press conference that the Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be played in Pakistan next year.

“Pakistan will host the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in April of next year,” announced Sethi during a press conference he held with Sri Lankan Cricket Board president, Thilanga Sumathipala ahead of the third T20i at Lahore.

The tournament will feature India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the hosts Pakistan.

Moreover, Najam Sethi called it a big a day in Pakistan cricket as they are to host the same team which was attacked in Lahore.

“Today is a big day for Pakistan cricket,” he said. “We are able to witness this event courtesy of Sri Lankan board’s bravery,” he added.

Thilanga Sumathipala also expressed his emotions on his tour to Pakistan that he is happy to tour to Pakistan.

“I am pleased that I visited Pakistan,” he said.

He further told that Pakistan and cricket cannot be separated and he will never let any cricket playing nation to be left behind.

“Sri Lankan cricketers are happy to tour Pakistan,” he stated. “Pakistan and cricket cannot be separated,” he went on to say.

“Pakistan is like our elder brother when it comes to cricket,” Sumathipala concluded.
