Pakistan female wrestlers shined on their debut and claimed medals at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat.
Beenish Khan stood victorious against Tajikistan’s Mariya Sedunova 3-0 in the -70kg freestyle women’s belt wrestling event. On the other hand, Maryam conquered Philippines Grace Loberane 2-1 in the -50kg event.
Both the players fought two bots, they won their first fight and were defeated in the second match, which earned them a bronze medal at the grand stage.
Pakistan’s flag was held high by Muhammad Basit as well, who defeated Uzbekistan’s Sherzodjon Rahimov 6-0 and India’s Vechita Khesoh 5-0 in the belt wrestling competition in the +100kg event.
Pakistan had a decent standing in the campaign, where they held one gold, two silvers and nine bronze medals in different contests, which gave them the 13th spot in a 24-country event.
