Pakistan Hockey goalkeeper Imran Butt announces retirement

Goalkeeper of Pakistan Hockey Team Imran Butt announced retirement from international Hockey on Thursday.

“I officially announce my retirement from international hockey. I would like to thank all the people who encouraged me in this amazing journey of my hockey career,” Butt wrote on his Twitter handle.

Butt has represented Pakistan in 156 matches. He played his first game for the national team at the 2012 Champions trophy. The 2018 Hockey World Cup was his last event.

On Wednesday, Butt’s brother and former captain of Pakistan national hockey Rehan Butt stepped down as assistant coach of the Hockey team after the dismal performance of the team in World Cup.

Earlier, team manager Hasan Sardar and coach Tauqeer Dar also resigned from their posts.
