Pakistan U19 team lost to India U19 team by 60 runs in their second match in ACC Under-19 Asia Cup on Saturday in Sri Lanka.
A good batting show by the Indian team took them to a strong total of 305 runs after they decided to bat first. Arjun Azad and NT Tilak Varma put up a solid 183-runs partnership on the scoreboard after India lost an early wicket of their opener Vijay Parka who made just three runs.
Azad and Varma were off to the mark with an impressive show with the bat which put Pakistani bowlers under immense pressure. Azad scored 121 runs off 111 balls including 11 boundaries and four sixes while Varma, with the help of 10 boundaries and a six, contributed 110 runs to the team’s total.
Naseem Shah and Abbas Afridi bagged three wickets each while Aamir Ali and Mohammad Aamir shared a wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan’s openers were completely failed to resist on the behalf of their team in front of a strong target. Haider Ali and Abdul Bangalzai managed to score just 9 and 15 runs, respectively. Captain Rohail Nazir and Haris Khan fought hard in the middle overs as the young batting duo scored 120 runs together.
Rohail led his side from the front by scoring 117 runs off 108 balls but wickets tumbling at the other hand caused huge problems for him. He smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes during his stay at the crease. Haris made 43 runs.
India’s Atharva Ankolekar (3) and Vidyadhar Patil (2) were the pick of the bowlers as they shared five wickets between them.
