Pakistan lose openers early against Australia

ADELAIDE: Pakistan lost both of their openers within the first ten overs in the World Cup quarter final against Australia here at Adelaide on Friday, reports.

Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and chose to bat first in the first.

Sarfraz Ahmed was the first to be dismissed as he was caught behind by Shane Watson after scoring 10 runs from the bowling of pacer Mitchell Starc.

Josh Hazlewood took the second wicket of the inning after captain Michael Clarke caught Ahmed Shehzad at third slip. He contributed just five runs with the bat.

The captain had a bit of luck as Hazlewood’s ball clipped his leg stump but the bails did not fall.

The green shirts are batting at 49/2 with Haris Sohail and Misbah-ul-Haq at 12 and 11 runs respectively.
