Pakistan lose two points, but, maintain second position in test ranking

International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced new test ranking and Pakistan have maintained their second spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings despite of losing two points due to the defeat in the third test.

Pakistan were the top ranked side after they drew series against England, but, India replaced them from the 1st position by whitewashing New Zealand in their three-match test series. India are now six points ahead of Pakistan.

Pakistan lost two points after losing the final test because they have 44-point lead against the West Indies, on the other hand, Windies got two points and are still ranked at the eighth spot.

West Indian hero in the third test, Kraigg Brathwaite has made into the top 20 of the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen for the first time with the courtesy of his match winning 142 and 60 in the two innings of the match respectively. The 19th ranked batsman, Kraigg Brathwaite became the first opener to remain not out in both innings of a test match.

Four of Pakistani batsmen are in the top 20 test batsmen. Younis Khan is holding the 5th spot, whereas, the skipper, Misbah Ul Haq is at 10th position, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq are ranked at 12th and 17th spot respectively. The young opener, Sami Aslam has jumped up to his career best ranking at 60th position.

In bowling, Yasir Shah is ranked at the 6th spot. Ravichandran Ashiwn, Dale Steyn and James Anderson are ruling the rankings with first, second and third spot respectively. Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Wahab Riaz has captured his career best, 24th rank after bagging second five-wicket haul of his career.
