Pakistan hockey team will miss their captain Muhammad Rizwan Sr, Abu Bakar and the vice-captain Amad Butt in their all-important game against the Netherlands on Sunday.
The skipper, Rizwan Sr suffered a blow during Pakistan’s contest against Malaysia, where he fractured the second toe of his left foot. Due to the severity of his injury, the captain is out of the whole World Cup campaign.
Whereas, Abu Bakar is also carrying an injury, which is likely to keep him on the bench in the game against the Dutch.
On the other hand, Butt is banned for one match by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for allegedly hitting a Malaysian player in their previous encounter. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) appealed against the punishment, but the decision remained intact.
The management has not yet finalised the replacements of these three players for their upcoming assignment of the World Cup.
Earlier, Pakistan lost their opening game against Germany by 1-0, while they managed a draw against Malaysia with 1-1.
