Pakistan hockey team beat Bangladesh 5-0 to win their fourth consecutive match and to qualify for the Asian Games hockey semi-final on Tuesday.
Pakistan went in the ground with same aggression they showed in their last three matches of the group stage and struck the first goal in the first minute of the match with the help of Mohammad Atiq who drove the ball diligently into the nets.
Just seven minutes later, Mubashir Ali scored one field goal to double the lead of Pakistan and to build pressure on their counterparts.
Pakistan ended first quarter 2-0 that saw Bangladesh coming out strongly in the second quarter in search of a much-needed goal.
In first few minutes Bangladesh dominated over green shirts but Mubashir Ali on 24th minute ensured that they were the strong side of the day hitting his second goal of the match adding one more to Pakistan’s tally.
Thereafter, both teams equally attacked on each other’s end but no more goals were scored in the second quarter.
Ali Shan in the third quarter made the most of a penalty corner to take the lead of Pakistan 4-0.
In last quarter it was Mohammad Atiq who came up with his second goal through penalty corner to seal a 5-0 victory for Pakistan.
With this victory, Pakistan topped their pool and straightaway qualified for the knock-out stage alongside Malaysia who secured the second position in group B.
Pakistan will face Japan whereas India will take on Malaysia in Asian Games hockey semi-final on August 30.
It is pertinent to mention that India and Pakistan are the Gold and Silver medalists of the Asian Games hockey 2014, respectively.
