Pakistan, Sri Lanka should declare innings to save opening Test: Inzamam

Pakistan’s former cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq has suggested Pakistan and Sri Lanka declare their first inning to save the opening Test of two-match series at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi.

After Day 2 and 3 being washed out, the historic Test is most likely to be drawn as Sri Lanka is batting for 282-6 in their first inning.

Inzamam wants both the teams to step up to let an exciting Test action continue in Pakistan after 10 years. “Azhar Ali should offer Sri Lanka’s captain to declare their first inning for the score they have already posted and forfeit the second inning. Pakistan should also declare their first inning for naught and then go onto chase Sri Lanka’s first-inning total,

“This has happened only once when South African skipper Hansie Cronje offered the same situation to visiting England’s captain Nasser Hossain after Day 2, 3 and 4 of the fifth Centurian Test got washed out,” Inzamam said.
