CIAKARANG: Pakistan conceded a defeat against Vietnam by 3-0 on their return to international football in their Asian Games Group ‘D’ game at the Wibara Mukti Stadium on Tuesday.
Pakistan returned to international football after a gap of almost three-years, the Men in Green looked rusty, whereas, Vietnam were confident courtesy of their successful run at AFC U23 Championship in China last January, where they finished second.
Nguyen Quang Hai opened the account for his team in the 21st minute of the game, whereas van Quyet doubled the lead just four minutes later.
In the 68th minute, a foul from Mehdi Hasan resulted in a penalty kick for Vietnam, however, it was blocked goalkeeper Saqib Hanif.
It took only four minutes for Vietnam to triple their lead with the courtesy of Cong Phuong to seal the contest by 3-0.
The win awarded Vietnam three precious points. Pakistan will take on Japan on Thursday, whereas Vietnam will face Nepal on the same day.
