Pakistan takes on Yemen in must-win qualifier match


MANAMA, BAHRAIN: Pakistan will take on Yemen in the second leg of their FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifier at Al Khalifa Stadium on Monday (today) here in Manama, reports.

Yemen emerged victorious in the first-leg on March 12 after beating Pakistan 3-1. The Pakistani team has to defeat Yemen by at least two goals if they to qualify for the next stage.

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) secretary Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi has said that the team is well-prepared and will beat Yemen to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.

The match was originally scheduled to take place at Lahore but was moved to Bahrain after violent clashes broke out in the historical city following twin blasts which left more than 10 people were killed.

Pakistan is placed at 170th spot in the latest FIFA rankings whereas Yemen are at 175th position.
