New Delhi: Indian Cricket Board has assured Pakistan team of highest security for the WT20 event.
According to details, chairman PCB Shahryar Khan had recently said that he had made a proposal in the ICC meeting to play WT20 matches at neutral venues in case the government doesn’t allow the team to visit India. In response to Shahryar’s proposal BCCI’s secretary Anurag Thakur said we are about to start the event in a very organized manner and we’ll provide complete security to all participating teams. We have been hosting World Cups and International matches earlier too. I don’t think any team should feel insecure here.
Anurag made it clear, it is for Pakistan to decide whether it wants to play the WT20 in India or not. He said bilateral series is a different topic because in the World Cup, teams from various parts of the world would come and participate. This time also 16 teams would participate and Pakistan would be one of them and the Indian government will provide complete security to all these teams.
He said, I think all the qualifying teams should come to India and participate in the mega-event. However if any country has its issues then they need to decide themselves. It may be remembered that earlier Shahryar Khan had hinted to boycott the WT20 event.
