Pakistan outclassed England on the fifth day of the test match at Sharjah. England started the day on 46-2 but were put under a lot of pressure from the Pakistan bowlers straight away.
In no time Pakistan removed England’s four top order players inside 13 runs and left the visitors reeling at 59-6. Spin twins Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar took 2 wickets each and utilized the deteriorating pitch to their advantage. Only captain Cook was standing tall between Pakistan’s victory as he looked resolute and compact in defense. He reached his half century just before the lunch break. Adil Rashid along with Cook tried to resist but not for long as Rahat Ali removed Rashid for 22 runs when the score was 108.England were 7 down for 120 runs at Lunch and a gigantic task ahead of them after the break.
After the lunch interval Pakistan wrapped up the match inside an hour as England could not resist any further as they were bowled out for 156. Cook top scored and was the last man to be dismissed and his wicket was fittingly taken by the retiring Shoaib Malik. Yasir Shah took 4 wickets while Shoaib Malik took 3 wickets while Zulfiqar Babar took 2 important wickets.
Malik’s wife Sani Mirza was also there to support here husband at his final test match for Pakistan.
With this win Pakistan have now claimed 2nd position in rankings which is another significant achievement and is another big feat for captain Misbah.
Mohammad Hafeez was declared man of the match for his brilliant 151 runs in the second innings which changed the course of the match.Yasir Shah got the award for the man of the series.
Pakistan and England now face off in the 4 match ODI series which will be another exciting contest.
