Pakistan Lawyers team beat India Lawyers team by 24 runs to win the 7th Lawyers Cricket World Cup in Hamilton, New Zealand on Wednesday, ARY Sports reported.
Pakistani bowlers dominated the game as they bowled out their arch-rivals for 169 runs in reply of 193 runs target. Mohammad Najeeb Jamali and Mohammad Ali Lakhani bagged three wickets each while Hasan Mirza (2) and Suleiman Huda (1) also played an important role for the men in green with the bowl.
Earlier, Pakistan scored 192-9 while batting first. Atif Beg top-scored for the green shirts with 48 runs off 49 balls. Jamali bagged man-of-the-final.
In a post-match talk, Jamali expressed his feelings and said that they proved their mettle as underdogs. “We are feeling great,” he said. “We proved ourselves as a team and won this tournament. Playing this event as underdogs was an exceptional experience,” he added.
It must be noted here that teams including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, West Indies, and English Barristers took part in the tournament.
