Pakistan women clinch ODI series


Pakistan women’s team have convincingly whitewashed the touring Bangladesh side in the two match ODI series after winning the second ODI today at the Southend ground in Karachi.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. The top order players had a decent outing with the bat as Marina Iqbal and the reliable Bismah Maroof scored 33 and 44 runs with the later reaming not out. A cameo from Aliya Riaz propelled Pakistan to 114/6 at the end of their allotted 20 over’s. Aliya scored 20 runs off 15 ball including a four and a six.

In reply the Bangladesh women never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Rumana Ahmed was able to show some resistance with 27 runs of 33 balls. The team could never find momentum during their entire innings and were left stranded on 80/7 at the end of 20 overs. Sumaiya and Nida took two wickets each while Captain Sana Mir was able to pick up the first and only wicket.

Bismah Maroof who had accumulated 109 runs during the series at a strike rate of 115 was declared the man of the series. She also got away with the man of the match of the second ODI.
