Pakistan’s spearhead, Wahab Riaz said in an interview that Pakistan has a quality bowling attack that can trouble English batsmen, he further said Pakistan will have to adjust in the playing conditions.
“It is absolutely crucial that we get used to the conditions and the wickets as soon as possible and I believe the Pakistani bowlers will test the England batsmen,” he told Pakpassion
Wahab coined English team as a tough opponent, he told Pakpassion in the interview, “England is a very tough opponent in home conditions, therefore, the green-shirts would have to be on top of their game to compete with the English team.”
The left-arm pacer expressed faith on Pakistan’s bowling line that it is good enough to exploit English batting weaknesses, “We have a good bowling line up with variety and there is a lot of potential to make the England batsmen work hard but the most important thing for our bowlers is to adjust to the bowling conditions in England and to get acclimatised as soon as possible.”
The 30-year old hailed the services of Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan and said that their role will be vital. He went on to praise his Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz for their recent performances.
“Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed have been performing consistently with the bat and have provided great support to Misbah and Younis,” he said.
He further added, “I think it is vital that our batsmen prepare well ahead of the England series. Our batsmen have the capability to put up some good scores on the board for the bowlers to work with. Let us see what sorts of wickets are prepared for the series as the nature of the pitches will be very important.”
Wahab Riaz is currently in England to represent Essex in the Natwest T20 Blast. His experience in the tournament in the English conditions can come handy for Pakistan during the tour.
