Pakistani cricketer Kainat Imtiaz fulfills her mother’s dream

Pakistani cricketer Kainat Imtiaz and her mother Salima Imtiaz, a national umpire create an inspirational story on and off the field.

The mother-daughter duo was seen in action during the ongoing National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship where Kainat is representing PCB Dynamites and her mother is fulfilling umpiring duties.

In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Salima praised Kainat for fulfilling her dream to be a cricketer. “I wanted to become a cricketer and represent Pakistan and I am lucky to have my daughter living my dream. She is a good cricketer and daughter too,” she said.

Kainat, on the other hand, gets immense motivation from her mother who took up umpiring to enter the cricket field. “She didn’t accomplish her dream to become a cricketer but he took up umpiring to get in the cricket field. It is an honor for me to have her in my life, especially in the cricket field which gives me ample confidence,” the 27-year-old cricketer said.

Kainat wants to serve Pakistan in a long run regardless of what role she gets in the future. “I am not sure what to do after cricket but I hope to keep on serving my country for a longer period of time,” she maintained.

It must be noted here that Kaniat has played 11 ODIs and 12 T20Is since her debut in T20I debut in 2010 against South Africa. She plays as an all-rounder and has scored 51 runs with nine wickets to her name whereas in T20Is she has just scored 41 runs at an average of 8.20 and also has six wickets. On the other hand, Salima is a part of the PCB women’s umpiring panel.
