DUBAI: Several Pakistani players have climbed up in the test rankings after winning the test match against Sri Lanka at Galle on Sunday, ARY News reports.
Pakistan comprehensively defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to go 1-0 up in three match test series.
According to the latest rankings issued by International Cricket Council (ICC), Yasir Shah, who took nine wickets in the test match, climbed to 14th spot in the rankings.
Steven Smith of Australia leads the batsmen’s rankings followed by South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Kumar Sangakkara.
Younis Khan moved to the fifth spot in the batsmen’s rankings while Asad Shafiq, who scored a century, has moved seven places to No. 12 in the rankings. Sarfraz Ahmed has climbed five places to No. 18 in the rankings.
Captain Misbah-ul-Haq has retained his ninth spot in the test rankings.
Dale Steyn of South Africa lead the bowlers rankings while England’s James Anderson is at second and Trent Boult of New Zealand. No Pakistani bowlers have made it to the list of top 10 bowlers. However, Saeed Ajmal is placed at No. 11.
South Africa lead the test rankings followed by Australia and New Zealand. The green shirts are currently placed at No. 6 in the test rankings.
