ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s 14 and Under boys’ tennis team left for Malaysia in the wee hours on Tuesday to take part in the World Junior Tennis (WJT) ITF 14 and Under Boys prequalifying round competition, which will be held in Kuching from February 25.
Pakistan team comprises of Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Muhammad Saqib, while Jalil Khan is accompanying the team as the non-playing captain and coach.
Meanwhile, coaching camps of Junior Fed Cup and Junior Davis Cup players are in progress at the Pakistan Sports Board tennis courts in Islamabad. These teams will take part in their respective events in Malaysia starting from March 3.
“Hopefully our young players will perform well and more importantly, they will get a chance to polish their game at par with international standards,” Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Secretary Khalid Rehmani told arysports.tv.
Khalid further said that the new PTF setup aims to lift the standards of tennis from the grass-root level and therefore junior players are the focus of their efforts.
