Pakistan’s morale is high says Waqar Younis

Pakistan’s head coach Waqar Younis is keen on defeating India this time around as his team lock horns with India on saturday in a match which is, perhaps, the biggest event of ICC World T20 2016.

Talking to reporters in Kolkata Waqar said Pakistan’s morale is high after convincingly defeating Bangladesh a couple of days back. He was confident that his team will be able to carry the momentum into this high profile clash and hopefully register a win against India in ICC events.

Waqar praised the way his batsmen batted during the first match and by scoring 200 runs the lost confident is somewhat recouped. He was delighted to see the way the top order showcased their skills and and especially pointed out the fact the Afridi’s return to form is a pleasant sight. He added that the captain’s form is a big plus for Pakistan as he can score quick runs.

Having lost to New Zealand in the first match of the tournament India is on the back foot and they have to beat Pakistan in order to stay alive in the tournament. Waqar recognizes this fact which is why he believes that pressure will be on India and so Pakistan have the opportunity to down their opponents.

Responding to a question about Afridi’s absence from the press conferences Waqar Younis said, while smiling, that the reporters ask difficult questions from Afridi.

Waqar Younis applauded the support given by the crowd in their first match but he realized that this will not be the case in the match against India but they will have to deal with it and give it their all on the field on saturday.

Pakistan’s pace battery is in red hot form and has the ability to uproot any batting lineup in the world and this is precisely the reason why he believes that it will be Pakistan’s bowling against a strong Indian batting lineup but Pakistan will need runs on the board in order to give something to the bowlers to defend.

Wahab’s lacklustre form has been slight worry for fans and Pakistan team but Waqar believes that he is a match winner and on his day he can be a lethal bowler. He also reminded us of the instances when Wahab was at his best such as the as the previous world cup matches.

Talking about Imad Wasim, Waqar Younis said that he is a talented all rounder and he can contribute with the bat at the 7th and 8th position and not to forget his tight bowling during the crucial middle overs. He added that Imad compliments Afridi really well in the spin department and these pitches are such that Pakistan need two spinners in their lineup.

Regarding the advantage Pakistan has for the match against India Waqar said that although Pakistan are slightly ahead of India but he does not want to count out India as both sides are well balanced.

Pakistan and India are all set to meet India at the Eden Garden in Kolkata on the 19th of March.
