Pakistan’s participation in Junior Hockey World Cup has become doubtful after International Hockey Federation (FIH) made it subjected to team’s visas to India.
The FIH had emailed Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to confirm their participation before 5 PM on Monday otherwise they will replace Pakistan with some other team, but, PHF could not confirm it as they did not get visas from India till then. The deadline given by FIH for confirmation of participation has already expired.
Pakistan had applied for visas, however, there has been no update from Indian Embassy regarding the matter.
If Pakistani players do not get Indian visas, they will not be able to feature in the global hockey event, moreover, their participation fee will also be seized.
Earlier, PHF required a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Pakistan’s government to send the junior team to India for tournament, due to the rough political conditions between the two neighbouring countries.
However, the government issued the required NOC and PHF had announced the 18-member squad for the campaign as well.
The tournament is to be played in Lucknow, India from December 8 to December 18.
