KARACHI: Pakistan’s experienced right-handed batsman, Mohammad Hafeez demoted from Category A to B as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced its centrally contracted players’ list for the 2018-19 season with an increase in monthly remuneration and match fees for players.
In the new Central contracts, the PCB has increased the monthly remuneration for each of its categories ranging between 25-30% and has also increased its players match fees by 20% across categories.
With the increase in players’ salary, the board has also introduced a new category E to recognize the performers of the domestic circuit and to promote the development of budding cricketers at junior cricket level.
The 2017-18 financial year, marked the conclusion of a three-year financial formula agreed between PCB and its players. After consultation with players’ representatives Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and all-rounder Shoaib Malik, PCB has reached a fresh 3 Year financial Remuneration Agreement with its players.
A total of 33 players have been awarded the contracts and their selection is based on the mutual understanding of the members of Central Contracts Selection Committee comprising PCB’s Director Cricket Operations Haroon Rashid, National Chief Selector Inzamam Ul Haq & Director Academies Mudassar Nazar which later was approved by the Chairman PCB, Mr Najam Sethi.
As many as six players make it to the A category including skipper of all three formats, Sarfraz Ahmed, right-handed batsman Shoaib Malik, Test opener Azhar Ali, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam – replaced Mohammad Hafeez.
Young leggy Shadab Khan and Fast bowler Hasan Ali joined the other four players including Mohammad Hafeez in B category.
Mohammad Abbas who showed outstanding performance in recently concluded Test series against England got the contract for C category.
Asif Ali finds his feats in D category while Young Shaheen Shah is in the newly introduced E category.
