Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the list of umpires who will officiate matches in the fourth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will start from 14 February.
International Cricket Council’s international panel umpire, Michael Gough, who has officiated in eight Test matches, 49 ODIs and 13 T20Is, will make his HBL PSL debut this season.
He will also perform his duties during the two contests scheduled to take place in Lahore between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, and Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans on March 9 and 10 respectively.
Moreover, member of ICC’s elite panel of umpires, England’s Richard Illingworth will also officiate matches during the star-studded league. The fourth edition of the PSL will be his second assignment of the league.
Another member of ICC’s international panel of umpires, Ranmore Martinesz will be umpiring during the tournament. As Gough will be performing duties in the matches scheduled in Lahore, the Sri Lankan official will be umpiring matches to be played in Karachi.
Other umpires on the HBL PSL 2019 panel are Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Rashid Riaz and Shozab Raza. All the four are members of the PCB Elite Panel of Umpires.
However, one of the most experienced umpires in the history of international cricket, Aleem Dar will not participate in the PSL 4 due to his family engagements and later his international assignments.
On the other, Sri Lanka’s Roshan Mahanama will lead the match officials’ list, which also includes Prof Anees Sheikh and Prof Javed Malik. It will be Mahanama’s fourth consecutive appearance in the Pakistan Super League.
