Pakistan cricket board (PCB) has appointed Ejaz Ahmed (Junior) as head coach of Pakistan squad for the upcoming Asian Emerging Nations Cup, which is going to be held at Karachi and Colombo in December.

PCB has overlooked the better options for this position and appointed Ejaz who was fired four years ago following allegations of match-fixing.

The controversial coach was involved in fixing a domestic T20 match, an ex-Test cricketer also claimed during the tournament, that Ejaz had told him he had fixed a game while coaching Sialkot.

However, the board fired Ejaz as a regional coach and suspended him.

On the other hand a PCB official stated that Ejaz was already doing coaching in domestic cricket and haven’t found anything against him in an inquiry.

“That is right. He has a Level II certificate and there are a few who even have cleared Level IV courses. But the decision to appoint Ejaz was taken by those who are calling the shots at the PCB headquarters these days,” he said.

On Thursday, the national selection committee has announced the 15-member squad for Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2018 commencing from December 6 in Karachi and Colombo.
