Pakistan’s Champions Trophy triumph has resulted in the extension of Mickey Arthur’s contract as the head coach till World Cup 2019, which is to be played in England.
Pakistan was the bottom ranked team in the eight-nation cricket tournament in England, their win in the event came as a huge surprise to the world.
Mickey Arthur was initially signed by the Pakistan Cricket Board for a two-year tenure in May 2016, however, team’s performance under him in limited over cricket has encouraged the board to give him a new contract.
Dawn reported that Arthur wants the similar extension for the rest of team’s coaching staff so that the Men in Green can do better preparations for the World Cup 2019.
Pakistan’s bowling and fielding coach, Azhar Mehmood and Paul Rixon took over the responsibility after Arthur’s appointment, whereas, the batting coach Grant Flower has been with the team since 2014.
