Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned to hold tape-ball Indoor Cricket Championship for Girls, which will feature sixteen teams from both government and private educational institutions, the board announced via a press release.
The tournament will take place from October 1st to 5th at Tennis Court Area, Punjab Sports Board, Lahore. The sixteen teams will be divided into four groups, it will be played on a single league basis, where each team will play three games.
The tournament is a part of PCB’s Women Wing under Vision 2022 will be hosting two Indoor Schools Cricket events during the year 2018-2019. The second tournament of the year is planned to be played in Karachi.
“The purpose of the Indoor Schools Cricket Championship Program is to engage students into fun-filled learning and promotional indoor cricket event for the promotion of Sports in Schools,” the official press release read.
“Apart from the promotional aspect, the event also instils the concept of modified games format using smaller spaces and less equipment to promote an active lifestyle in young people,” it further read.
The talented girls will be shortlisted from these exciting events and will be nurtured through Women Cricket Development Pathway Programs.
PCB’s women wing plans to replicate this event in different parts of the country as a part of their campaign vision 2022.
