LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Shaharyar Khan told media that the board may ask for financial compensation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) before touring them for cancelling their visit to Pakistan on security grounds.
Pakistan is likely to tour Bangladesh in July-August of this year. However, PCB Boss is not pleased with Bangladesh’s refusal to tour Pakistan.
“We want to host Bangladesh but its chances are not bright. As we already toured Bangladesh in 2015 and they did not turn up in Pakistan in return [on security grounds], we may ask them to compensate us financially if they want us to tour them again in July-August this year,” he said.
Bangladesh last played in Pakistan in a bilateral series almost 14 years back in 2003.
PCB does not want to host Bangladesh in UAE as staging home series there is not much profitable for the board and they are suffering financially for not hosting home series in their country.
Khan is also likely to meet BCCI and BCB in separate meetings, “We will hold separate meetings with Bangladesh and India besides meeting Giles Clarke [ICC Task Force head on Pakistan] to discuss bilateral relations,” he said.
Bangladesh’s refusal to tour Pakistan has been a setback to high hopes raised by Pakistan cricket fans after seeing the PSL final in Lahore.
