Karachi: Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI)’s official sees no room for Asia Cup this year, hence recommended the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to host the multi-nation tournament next year in place of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6.
Speaking to Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), an unnamed BCCI official said that the Indian team will not be available this October-November this year for Asia Cup.
“Asia Cup will be a struggle this year. Going by the statement of the Chief Executive of the PCB, the window that suits them doesn’t suit India,” the official said.
“Maybe PCB can postpone PSL next year if BCCI is able to open up a window during that period. Otherwise conducting the Asia Cup doesn’t seem too practical as these are challenging times,” he added.
It must be noted here that PCB’s CEO Wasim Khan has stated that they will host Asia Cup 2020 as per schedule. According to the reports, PCB is considering UAE or Sri Lanka to host the tourney as India had already refused to tour neighbors citing no permission from the government.
