Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cut down the number of centrally contracted players from 35 to 25, whereas, they increased the salaries of the players are increased by 50 per cent.
The 25 players that got central contracts from the PCB are divided into three categories A, B, and C.
The A category features Pakistan’s skipper in all three formats of the game, Sarfraz Ahmed alongside the veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik, spearhead Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Azhar Ali and Babar Azam.
Mohammad Hafeez has been demoted to the B Category contract, whereas Babar Azam has been promoted to A.
Apart from Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Yasir Shah, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman got the Category B contract from the board.
On the other hand, the experienced fast bowlers Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan are handed the Category C contracts along with the emerging star Mohammad Abbas, Imam Ul Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan Shinwari, Rumman Raees, Rahat Ali, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat and Usman Salahuddin.
As per reports, the central contracts for Imad Wasim and Rumman Raees are subjected to their fitness.
Sami Aslam, Shan Masood and Ahmed Shehzad have been overlooked by the board.
