Pakistan female cricketer Javeria Khan asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for considering an option to conduct an exhibition match for women cricketers during the upcoming fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“I think it would be a confidence booster for women cricketers if the PCB opens up a window for a women exhibition match during PSL 5. It has happened in India and other countries and I think it’s not too late for the cricket board to take such a decision,” Khan replied to a question in a presser at National Stadium Karachi.
The opening batsman highlighted PCB’s effort in flourishing the game for women’s cricketers by creating ample opportunities for them. “I think PCB is doing a great job by giving ample opportunities to the players which is a good sign. I hope the players’ pool for domestic tournaments will be increased by next year,” she said.
On the other hand, Javeria shared her comments on scoring 67 runs for PCB Blasters against PCB Challengers in the fifth match of National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship. “Had we won, my inning would have more value. However, it is good to lead your side from the front being a senior player,” Khan said.
“Before ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, this tournament is a good opportunity for players to get off the mark. I think the bigger opportunity for those young players who have the potential to be at a bigger level,” she added.
