KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) advertised its tender notice for the spot license agreement for TV broadcast from 2019-2021, the ARY news reported on Saturday.
According to the advertisement a Request For Proposal (RFP) can be obtained from the office of the PCB on or before August 22 with a non-refundable and non-adjustable fee of PKR 4,000/- (or US dollar equivalent at the prevailing state bank of Pakistan exchange rate) via wire Transfer, pay order or demand draft.
It is pertinent to mention that on August 22 it is a public holiday on account of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to the sources, the sports broadcasting companies are unhappy over this immediate step was taken by the PCB to sell their airtime rights.
“It is too early for us to manage the things as we have to frame the documents accordingly and also want some time to discuss over this bid,” a senior sports correspondent told ARY News.
According to the sources the companies are on one page to get some more time to participate in this bid and they want PCB to increase some time to submit their documents.
On the other hand, some news is also roaming all around that the PCB has also applied for the license of its own private sports channel, in PEMRA.
Moreover, sources have indicated towards some big changes—expected within 24 to 48 hours, in the set up of the PCB along with the replacement of its Chairman.
Former ICC Chairman, Ahsan Mani is a strong candidate who is likely to replace the current Chairman of the PCB, Najam Sethi.
Ahsan Mani is a chartered accountant by profession and has some good administration skills.
