The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to sell the next rights cycle of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in order to take the only cricketing league of Pakistan on the next level.
The PSL franchise representatives and PCB officials discussed reviewing independent valuations of various commercial rights in a meeting held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on Sunday.
The delegation of the World’s renowned sports Consultants, Lagardere Sports, presented the valuations.
The Regional Vice President of the Middle East, Lagardere Sports, Mr Maqbul Dudhia said that the PSL is of great interest in the commercial market and many sponsors are looking forward to investing in it.
“As a sports property, PSL will be of great interest to the market. Commercial partners look for valuable exposure in sponsorships and, for Pakistani brands, I don’t think there is anything as valuable as exposure garnered from PSL.” Maqbul said.
Mr Frank Saez, MD SMG Insight, Lagardere’s research partners for the PSL valuation project, shared his data-driven insight on the PSL.
He said that it is really important to bring back the whole PSL in Pakistan in order to encourage some more people towards it.
“Given Pakistan’s commercial landscape and the fact that more matches are coming back to Pakistan, PSL will only grow as a brand,” Saez said.
On the other hand, Mr Ali Naqvi, owner of reigning champions Islamabad United said that it is heartwarming to see PSL growing gradually into a huge brand and they will contribute equally in its growth.
“It is heartening to see that market research shows great confidence in Pakistan Super League as a product,” Ali said.
He added that all franchise owners are on one page to support the PCB throughout in it’s his vision to further develop the PSL.
“We will work in partnership with PCB to ensure that we continue to grow collectively,” Ali added.
