Nottingham: Veteran batter Mohammad Hafeez thinks that the upcoming T20I series against England and West Indies is important for the side to gain confidence ahead of the all-important T20 World Cup in UAE later this year.
The 40-year-old Hafeez, who is out of the ODI side, will be back in action in T20Is when Pakistan take on England at Trent Bridge in series opener.
Hafeez opined that performing well on away tours describes team’s ability. “The series is crucial for us as it will help us understand where we are placed as a team for this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Good performance against a top ranked side will give players and team management great confidence going into the mega event,” Hafeez told pcb.com.pk.
“By adopting conditions and winning on away tours is always vital as it extracts team’s mental toughness. It helps you to come out as a better side,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hafeez was pleased with his performances in white-ball cricket in England and looks forward to play strong England team.
“I am happy to be back in England again as I have great memories of playing in this country. The T20I series against England will be a treat to watch for the fans and good display of skills and talent is expected from both sides.
