PHF appoint Ayaz Mahmood as temporary secretary

The president of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar appointed former Olympian Ayaz Mahmood as associate secretary on Tuesday.

Mahmood will serve as federation’s temporary secretary. Khokhar said that they will appoint new team management as soon as possible.

It is pertinent to mention here that Shahbaz Ahmed Senior resigned as PHF’s secretary due to the poor system to run hockey in the country.

He, in an interview, said that the entire system of the PHF needs to get changed in order to revive the lost pride of the national game.

“There are a lot of things which should be changed in the federation’s set up to get the things in the right order for Pakistan hockey,” he said.

Shahbaz said that the PHF’s president should appoint new team management prior to the FIH Pro Hockey League and ask them to develop a strong team for future assignments.

“A new and strong team management is required to put the team back on the track,” he said.
