The executive board of Pakistan Hockey Federation approves the appointment of Asif Bajwa as the secretary of the federation during the board meeting.
President PHF, Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar headed the meeting, which was attended by the hockey associations of all four provinces. Moreover, chairperson of PHF women’s wing, Tanzeela Amir Cheema also attended the meeting.
Bajwa, who is the successor of Shahbaz Ahmed Sr, is determined to revive the sport in the country.
“Our first and foremost duty is to stabilize the federation’s affairs which can lift the status of hockey in Pakistan,” Bajwa had said earlier while talking to the media.
It is pertinent to mention here that PHF’s president released Shahbaz Senior from his post and appointed a member of Pakistan’s 1994 World Cup squad Bajwa as new secretary general of the federation.
Shahbaz, who had resigned from his post a month ago but later took back his decision and resumed the office once again, said it is surprising for him to be overthrown.
