KARACHI: The president Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Khalid Sajjad Khokhar on Friday said that national hockey team will show fighting spirit in upcoming Asian Games starting from August 18 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.
Khokhar while talking to the media along with Secretary PHF, Shahbaz Senior, Manager Hasan Sardar and National team’s captain Rizwan senior, said that “Finally we had cleared all the dues of the players’ and now there is no more room for anyone to create any drama against PHF”
He said that these sort of things keep happening but making it a huge blow is not good for hockey’s image in the country.
“We are working to put hockey back on to the track but there are some people who are putting hurdles in our way,” Khokhar lamented.
Khokhar called the hockey players as his own children and said that their problem is his personal problem and that is why he immediately made efforts to clear all the remaining dues of the them.
Secretary PHF, Shahbaz senior supported Mr Khokar saying that the whole nation needs to support hockey in order to get its lost pride back.
He was quick to add that criticism and defaming are two different things and what some people are doing is just spreading rumors against us all around.
“We don’t want you to defame us without any proof, i am positive that we have always tried to work for the betterment of hockey in the country,”
On the other hand, Hasan Sardar hoped for the medal from the team this time around as he thinks that Roelant Oltmans has done some outstanding efforts to make the boys competitive enough.
“Oltmans is confident, boys are pumped up, hopefully this time medal will come to our way,” Hasan hoped.
National hockey team captain, Mohammad Rizwan on the occasion thanked the federation for clearing the remaining dues of each and every player.
Rizwan said that all the boys are looking forward to take the challenge in the Asiad and they will not disappoint the nation.
“We need prayers, Inshallah we will come up strongly bringing some good memories from this event,”
